For the last several years, I leave Hawaii and travel thousands of miles to attend Inman Connect.
To some, that might seem like a long journey for a few days of networking, education, and conversations. But I've learned that some of the most important moments in a career don't happen during a transaction, at an open house, or behind a desk. They happen when you intentionally place yourself in rooms filled with people who challenge you to think differently.
When I first attended Inman, I expected to learn about real estate. What I didn't expect was how much I would learn about leadership, communication, relationship-building, and personal growth.
The sessions are valuable, of course. The speakers are inspiring. But some of the greatest lessons I've taken home didn't come from a stage. They came from conversations with agents from different markets, different backgrounds, and different experiences. They came from sharing ideas over coffee, discussing challenges in hallways, and hearing perspectives that were completely different from my own.
As Realtors, it's easy to become immersed in our local markets. We know our neighborhoods, our inventory, and our clients. But growth often happens when we step outside of what's familiar. When we expose ourselves to new ideas, different viewpoints, and people who have solved problems we haven't encountered yet.
Looking back, many of the relationships I've built through Inman have become some of the most valuable connections in my career. They've led to collaborations, mentorship opportunities, friendships, and a network of professionals I know I can call on when I need advice or a fresh perspective.
Those relationships have made me a better Realtor, but more importantly, they've made me a better listener, communicator, and advocate for the people I serve.
That's why being named an Inman Connect Community Leader is so meaningful to me. It represents something I've believed for a long time: that our industry is at its best when we learn from one another, support one another, and create spaces where meaningful connections can happen.
At the end of the day, real estate is a people business. The homes matter. The contracts matter. The market matters. But relationships will always be at the center of what we do.
And that's why the rooms you choose matter.
Because one conversation can change your perspective.
One relationship can change your business.
And one opportunity to show up can change far more than you ever expected.
